Adios, beloved Patria, region of the sun, Pearl of the Orient Sea, our lost Eden!
To you I joyfully give this sad, withered life, And were it more brilliant, fresher, more vibrant, I would give it for you, I would give it for your good.
En campos de batalla, luchando con delirio Otros te dan sus vidas sin dudas, sin pesar;
In fields of battle, fighting with delirium, Others give their lives without doubt, without regret;
The site matters not, cypress, laurel or lily, Scaffold or open field, combat or cruel martyrdom, It is the same if Patria and home demand it.
I die when I see the sky color itself And at last announce the day after a somber shroud; If you need crimson to dye your dawn, Pour my blood, spill it in good time And let a reflection of its nascent light gild it.
My dreams when I was barely a young boy, My dreams when young, already full of vigor, Were to see you one day, jewel of the orient sea, Your dark eyes dry, your smooth forehead high, Without frown, without wrinkles,
sin manchas de rubor.
without stains of blush.
Dream of my life, my ardent living desire, My soul, soon to depart, cries out "Health!" to you!
Salud!
Health!
Oh, how beautiful it is to fall to give you flight, To die to give you life, to die beneath your sky, And in your enchanted land to sleep eternally.
